Description

Dear Candidates,

The University of Bielsko-Biala (UBB) provides in English two graduate (second-cycle) programmes in the academic year 2023/2024:

  • Master in International Business
  • Master of Science in Computer Science

Please note that the study programmes will be launched with a minimum number of 15 enrolled students!

Candidates interested in undertaking studies in the academic year 2023/2024 are invited to create an individual registration account in the IRK  system (admission for foreigners) and register for studies by selecting the studies field. For studies provided in the English language of instruction, please go to the “Studies” field and choose the “Studies in English” option in the “Filters” section. Then please confirm your choice (MSc in Computer Science (part-time study) or Master in International Business (full-time study). If you wish to study in the Polish language, choose a study programme in Polish (admission for foreigners – in Polish: rekrutacja dla obcokrajowców) and follow instructions.


Admission step by step
Second-cycle programme

STAGE 1
Start registration process in the online application system (in Polish: IRK)

The online registration will be open in June 7, 2021. If you have any any questions about the admission or studies contact us: international@ubb.edu.pl   

Step 1: Create your individual registration account in the IRK https://irk.ubb.edu.pl
Use an email address which you really use on a regular basis. After you create your account, an account activation link will be sent to the e-mail address that you have given in the personal data form. You need to activate your account by clicking the link. If you cannot activate your account, please contact International Relations Office at international@ubb.edu.pl
 
Step 2: Complete your personal details: fill in all the data that are required in the system (basic personal data + address and contact information).
 
Step 3: Upload a photo for student's ID according to the photo requirements (a passport form photo). Your photo has to be accepted  before printing from the IRK system a personal questionnaire or statement about taking interview confirming your command of English (or Polish if you apply for the studies in Polish) in the online form.
 
Step 4: Complete data concerning educationand attach documents required at this stage of registration.
 
You need to specify the document you possess that entitles you to study at the level of your choice:
Graduate programmes: BA, BSc or BEng diploma / MA, MSc or MEng diploma / an equivalent diploma from abroad.
 
Note that it is not possible for candidates with foreign high school/higher education diplomas to enter results in the form. Therefore, you are obliged to attach scans of translated documents with high school/higher education results at individual registration accounts.
 
If you apply for second-cycle studies, you supply a higher education diploma (MA, BA or long-cycle) and a diploma supplement with grades together with apostille/legalisation and their official translation (you upload more than one scan or one scan if it contains all required documents).
 
In the filed “Certificates and other documents required to start studies” upload a certificate that confirms your command of the English language or Polish language (if you apply for studies in Polish) at least at B2 level. A candidate whose documents confirm schooling in English, is not required to present any additional language certificate.
 
Important: if you do not have a proper certificate, upload a statement about taking interview confirming your command of English (or Polish if you apply for the studies in Polish) in the remote (online) form. For more information about the interview please contact our IRO (international@ubb.edu.pl).
 
Step 5: Choose studies from the offer.

After creating an individual account in the IRK system and specifying the relevant document entitling you to study at university level, you apply for a study programme. For studies provided in English, please go to the "Studies" field and choose "Studies in English" option in the "Filters" section. Then please confirm your choice (MSc in Computer Science (part-time study) or Master in International Business (full-time study). After choosing a study programme you would like to apply to, click on the green “Sign up” button.
 
If you wish to study in the Polish language, choose a study programme in Polish. In any case choose “admission for foreigners”.
 
Step 6: Pay admission fee: 85 PLN (equal to 19 EUR or 22 USD + possible transfer costs).

The individual bank account number is generated for each candidate through the IRK system at the registration account, see section “Payments”. Information for a transfer from abroad:

Step 7: Make sure that you have attached scanned copies of required documents.
 
Step 8: Take part in the interview
If you do not have a certificate confirming a required level of English or Polish, you should take an entrance interview. Details about the interview will be sent to you by at least five days before the exam date through “Messages” tab in your account.

The interviews will be conducted online (via Skype, Teams etc.). Details will be provided individually to all candidates through their OAS accounts. To take part in the interview, please note that you will need a stable Internet connection, a working microphone and headphones or speakers, as well as a webcam (your identity will be verified with the document (passport) you need to show to the camera, and you are expected to answer questions without assistance of other people).
 
Step 9: Wait for information on your account from the recruitment office on the acceptance or refusal of the submission.
In case of any further questions, contact the International Office (by asking a question at the IRK system or by sending an e-mail at international@ubb.edu.pl). Please do not send us per email any copies of your diploma!
 
STAGE 2
Check qualification results
 
Our staff will verify your documents. If a positive decision is made regarding your application, then you will be informed and invoiced for the proper tuition fees. If your application is not accepted, you will not be invoiced for any payment.
You will receive the qualification results on your individual registration accounts in the Online Application System (IRK). Log into your account and check your results.

International candidates receive decisions on admission issued by the Rector.
 
STAGE 3
Enroling into the programme and submitting the necessary documents
 
If accepted, pay the tuition fees please send us a scan of the confirmation of payment.
After your payment is confirmed, you will receive the necessary documents to help with your visa application, if necessary.

When you come to Poland, submit personally the following documents to the International Relations Office (address: Willowa 2, building L, room 402, 4th floor) the original documents listed below until 29.09.2023.  In order to register and submit the documents, you have to appear in person, showing your ID or passport.

Please make sure you have all of the necessary documents in their original forms.

1. Personal questionnaire printed from the IRK and signed
2. Enrolment application (Request to the rector)printed from the IRK and signed
3. Registration and Information Consents printed from the IRK and signed
4. Application for the issue of Electronic Student ID printed from the IRK and signed
5. Statement on reading the terms of payment at the University of Bielsko-Biala printed from the IRK and signed
6. Confirmation of registration fee payment (85 PLN which is equal to 19 EUR or 22 USD + possible transfer costs)
7. Confirmation of   payment of the tuition fee for studies (applies to candidates on tuition fee basis)
8. Two (2) passport photos 35*45 mm

Copies and originals – a copy will be legally confirmed by the university at the International Relations Office, if the original document is presented during inspection
 
1. Copy of your ID card or passport (for European Union citizens) or passport (for non-European Union citizens)
2. Copy of document certifying your knowledge of the programme language of instruction(English or Polish) at B2 level, with the exception of candidates whose language proficiency has been confirmed during the exam
3. Copy of medical certificate with notification that you can attend a selected type of studies (with an official translation)
4. Copy of health insurance for the period of studies in Poland (e.g., European Health Insurance Card, or general health insurance (Polish National Health Fund—NFZ), or confirmation from the insurer that they would cover medical costs of at least 30 000 EUR)
5.  If you apply for second-cycle studies: a copy of higher education diploma (MA, BA or long-cycle) and a diploma supplement with grades together with apostille/legalisation and their certified translation (you upload more than one scan or one scan if it contains all required documents)
 
Additional documents (if applicable)
1. Letter of decision on scholarship or exemption from education fees (issued by NAWA or other grantor),
2. Proof of health insurance valid for basic medical care in Poland or a proof of Polish origin issued by a Polish Consulate,
3. Visa or a residence permit (Karta Pobytu), or any other document that entitles the applicant to stay in the Republic of Poland,
4. Original of accommodation request (if you decide to stay in the student dormitory).
5. Power of attorney – authorisation of candidate’s representative to submit documents in case he/she cannot do it himself
6. Parent’s written consent to undertake studies by the child (for candidates under 18) with a certified translation into Polish.
7. If you apply for second-cycle studies: If your diploma does not include information that you are eligible to undertake second-cycle programs, a document confirming that the diploma entitles them to undertake second-cycle programs should be added.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
 
1. OFFICIAL TRANSLATIONS
Your documents should be translated by a Polish sworn translator registered in the  list of sworn translators of the Polish Ministry of Justice, or by:
– a sworn translator registered in any Member State of European Union (EU) or European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the European Economic Area Agreement, or Member States of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), or
– a Polish consul in the country where the documents were issued, or
– an accredited in Poland embassy or consulate of the country which issued the documents or in which the relevant educational system operates.
 
2. LANGUAGE CERTIFICATE
A list of documents recognized by the University of Bielsko-Biala as a confirmation of foreign languages command.
 
English
·       Cambridge B2 First (grade C or higher);
·       Cambridge C1 Advanced;
·       Cambridge C2 Proficiency;
·       IELTS Academic (at least 5.5 points);
·       TOEFL (at least: iBT: 72 points, ITP: 543 points, CBT: 180 points);
·       higher education diploma in the field of English Philology (English Studies);
·       higher education diploma, if the language of instruction was English;
·       IB diploma;
·       EB certificate;
·       citizenship of a country in which English is the official language;
·       other document (e.g. transcript mark confirming passing the university English language course at least at B2 level).
 
If you do not have any of these certificates, we will check your language proficiency in English during an online interview.
 
3. POWER OF ATTORNEY
If you cannot appear in person at the dean’s office when you receive the information on being accepted for the 1 year of the programme of your choice, you can ask another person to do it for you. However, this person will have to present a written power of attorney signed by you.
 
4. PARENTS OR LEGAL GUARDIAN PERMISSION TO STUDY
Candidates who are under 18 upon enrolment have to submit additional documents in order to enrol, such as a birth certificate (with its translation) and parent’s written consent to undertake studies by the child. If a minor candidate is enrolled by a representative (a legal guardian), then an appropriate power of attorney is required. A document form to download (only in Polish): www.irk.ubb.edu.pl
 
5. DECISION ON RECOGNITON OF A DOCUMENT OF INTERNATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Some certificates are recognized in Poland by virtue of law and they do not require any additional administrative actions in order to undertake studies. Such recognition applies to certificates issued in Member States of the EU, OECD, EFTA (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Island, Israel, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Malta, Mexico, Germany, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, USA, Hungary, UK, Italy) and
certificates covered by international agreements (Belarus, China, Ukraine).

Certificates issued in other countries than listed above require an additional administrative procedure in order to be recognized as a basis for undertaking higher education in Poland. Such decisions are issued by the appropriate education authority. In order to obtain the decision candidates who reside in Poland should contact the local Polish education authority (in Polish: Kurator Oświaty), relevant to the place of their residence. For those who do not reside in Poland this is Kuratorium Oświatyw Katowicach.
If, upon enrolment, the candidate does not have a decision on a certificate recognition in Poland, they oblige themselves to obtain this decision by no later than end of the first semester.
 
6. FINAL REMARKS
After submitting all the required documents, you will be registered at the dean’s office of the relevant university faculty by the deadline specified by the Faculty Admission Commission.
 
In case of any questions, contact the International Office by sending an e-mail at international@ubb.edu.pl. Please do not send us any copies of your diploma!
 
If, for any reason, you decide not to study the programme you have applied for, please submit a scan of signed resignation statement to the Office of International Relations (international@ubb.edu.pl). The statement should be submitted immediately after you receive the information that you have been accepted for the programme that you decide not to attend.
 
ANNOUNCEMENT
This admission procedure is only for full-studies candidates and recruiters and it is valid for the academic year 2023/2024.
Only full sets of documents will be processed.
Candidates will receive the Offer Letter for the Embassy meeting.
Candidates with positive results from the Embassy meeting get the Acceptance Letter.
All documents from the University of Bielsko-Biala for completed applications are sent on Fridays.
